The first landing on the moon of the Apollo 11 on 20 July 1969 fascinated me from very early on in my life. I was born in the seventies and as a little child my father played me the record with the story of the moon landing. The record was a present from my uncle who was working for NASA at that time. He was my distant uncle, having this cool job at the NASA Mission Control Center at Houston, Texas.
Record Album
The record album consisted of a spoken report of the journey to the moon, supported by snippets of the recorded communication between mission control and the Apollo 11 crew. Besides the record, the album included a set of printed photo’s made from the space capsule as well as several sheets of dia’s, accompanied by a cardboard viewer. The whole package had an enormous attraction to me. For long I considered it the most valuable item we possessed.
Intelligent
Now the world is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first steps made by a human on the moon. To commemorate this extraordinary event, I took my precious ‘First Steps On The Moon’ record album, and recorded the radio fragments from the Apollo mission control center. After that, I blended the fragments with some of my favorite Drum ‘n’ bass tracks, mostly part of the so called ‘intelligent’ movement from the mid nineties. Of course best listened while viewing the original dia’s with a cardboard viewer 😉

Mix-CD By Mail
I have never abandoned the compact disc. Music on cd still sounds much better than on the music platforms we are all used to. Besides, Mixcloud, the service I use to share my dj-mixes, can be very restrictive and picky towards my Mix-CDs.
So, I’ll share my music on cd too. And for the record: For free! If you are interested in a Mix-CD, and hopefully in the future, my own tracks, leave your email in the box at the top of the right column and you will be subscribed to my mailinglist. When you are subscribed, I will ask you if you like to receive my Mix-CD’s at your address, nicely old fashioned delivered by The Netherland’s oldest postal service.

Not mobile Fredley… old skool emoticon <3 2 the moon. Benieuwd naar de release van #5, die ik bij deze reserveer voordat er een run ontstaat 🙂
